Job summary

Public Health Wales is recruiting a Healthcare Support Worker (Retinal Photographer) to deliver screening clinics across North Wales, based in Wrexham. You will guide participants through screening appointments and capture retina images using specialised cameras.

We expect enthusiasm, patient-focused care, and a willingness to train as a retinal screener. A full UK driving licence is essential and Welsh language skills are desirable, with English speakers welcomed.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic, patient-centred and able to work in health or social care settings.
• Willingness to train as retinal screener and attain diploma.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Guide participants through screening appointments, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
• Administer eye drops and accurately check pupil dilation within specified timeframes.
• Capture high-quality digital images of the retina using specialised cameras.
• Strictly adhere to DESW protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Drive the Trust's Light Goods Vehicle to clinic venues primarily across North Wales and occasionally other regions within Wales.
