Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Retinal Screening Photographer to provide high-quality retinal photography for people with diabetes across NHSGGC locations, including fixed sites, GP surgeries and mobile units.

The role involves working independently after training, ensuring clinics run smoothly, and contributing to a safe, patient-centered screening service. Visa sponsorship may be available for eligible roles.

Qualifications

• Experience as a retinal screening photographer.
• Completion of National Screening Modules HC1-HC11.
• Evidence of competency through a Learning Log and portfolio.
• Driver's licence essential.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Experience using digital imaging equipment and cameras.
• Competent IT skills and ability to handle patient data.

Responsibilities

• Carry out retinal photography for people with diabetes, including consent, measuring visual acuity and dilating pupils.
• Prepare clinic rooms and mobile screening vehicles, maintain equipment and stock, ensure health and safety compliance.
• Import/export patient data and retinal images, support clinic administration and booking.
• Undertake training towards Level 1 Image Grading and contribute to recording and documentation of screening activity.
