Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a Retail Team Member for the Lacock shop in Chippenham. You will welcome visitors, answer questions, and help them make the most of their day while maintaining a neat, well-presented shop.

You will discuss how purchases fund the National Trust, work on deliveries and displays, and collaborate with teammates to keep the shop running smoothly. This is a fixed-term season role requiring weekend work with flexible hours.

Summary

We’re looking for a Retail Team Member to welcome visitors to the National Trust shop at Lacock to answer their questions and help them make the most of their day.

Salary: £12.75 per hour Contract/duration: Fixed term contract until 31-Mar-2027 Hours/working pattern: Seasonal, flexible, weekends. This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What you'll be doing

As a member of the retail team, you’ll be offering visitors help and advice with their shopping. You’ll have high standards of presentation in the shop while providing excellent service to all customers.

You’ll also be able to talk to them about how everything they buy helps to fund the work of the National Trust. Other duties may include arranging, receiving and unpacking deliveries, creating shop displays and working with others in the team to keep the shop floor clean and organised.
