Job summary

Ryen Mart Ltd is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee daily operations of our Greater Manchester stores. You will manage staff, ensure excellent customer service and supervise stock and till procedures.

The role involves hands-on operations support during busy periods, including cash handling and EPOS operation, with a focus on KPIs, stock accuracy and compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail management or supervision.
• Strong leadership and staff-management skills.
• Good understanding of store operations, stock control and customer service.
• Experience using EPOS/till systems and handling retail transactions.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage staff rotas and prioritise operational requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of cash handling, reconciliation and sales reporting.
• Ability to analyse sales and operational information for improvements.
• Awareness of health and safety and age‑restricted sales procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day store operations for efficient performance.
• Supervise and coordinate retail staff and shifts.
• Train staff in customer service, till procedures, stock handling and policies.
• Monitor sales performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain high customer service standards and handle queries or complaints.
• Oversee stock ordering, replenishment and inventory control.
• Receive deliveries and ensure correct recording and display.
• Oversee merchandising, pricing and promotional displays.
• Control stock losses and implement loss-prevention measures.
• Oversee cash handling, till reconciliations and discrepancies.
• Provide hands-on support during busy periods and staff shortages.
• Operate EPOS and process customer transactions.
• Assist with refunds and price queries per procedures.
• Support checkout operations and resolve issues.
• Ensure age-restricted sales procedures are followed.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety and other retail requirements.
• Maintain store records and operational documentation.
• Coordinate with suppliers and management on stock and deliveries.
• Analyse demand and trends to improve store performance.
• Support recruitment, induction and performance management.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation throughout the store.
• Report performance and staffing matters to senior management.
• Work across Manchester and Hollingworth locations as required.
