Job summary

Bayne’s the Family Bakers is seeking a Senior Sales Assistant to join the Glasgow shop. You will work with the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager, covering shifts including weekends, and help run the shop when needed.

The role requires strong customer service, display upkeep, and a commitment to our values. With supervisory responsibilities, you’ll lead by example, maintain product quality, handle cash per guidelines, and participate in data entry and reporting tasks.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in a retail setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication and people skills are essential.
• Able to work flexibly across shifts including weekends.
• Basic numeracy and computer/data-entry abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve customers with bakery products.
• Set up and maintain counter and window displays.
• Resolve customer queries and complaints.
• Lead by example and promote company values (Customer Focus, Respect, Continuous Improvement, Sustainability).
• Delegate tasks and manage opening/closing duties as a key holder.
• Maintain shop standards and ensure product availability and quality.

Senior Sales Assistant - 209 Easterhill Street, Glasgow, G32 8LD

Purpose– To work alongside the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager as part of the management team. Running the shop in their absence whilst promoting the company values. Giving moments of joy to our customers.

YOUwill be given various shifts - which will change week to week and will include weekends (when rostered on),between 5:00 am and 5:15pm- any 5days from 7.

30 hours per week(although additional hours may be available).

£13.30 per hourplus an excellent benefits package (see below).

What will YOU do:

• Prepare and serve customers with our award winning range of bakery products.
• Set up and maintain counter and window displays.
• Resolving customer queries and complaints.
• Leading by example and living our values every day (Customer Focus, Respect, Continuous Improvement & Sustainability)
• Prioritising tasks and delegating duties to team members.
• Encouraging positive workplace behaviours including attitude, integrity, appearance and punctuality.
• Delivering and encouraging a consistent and excellent customer experience.
• Maintaining high standards including shop appearance and both the quality and availability of products.
• Key holder with responsibility for opening and closing the shop.
• Adhering to and promoting compliance with company policies and legislation. This includes health & safety and food safety.
• Holding return to work meetings and documented discussions.
• Managing cash in line with company guidelines.
• Computer related tasks, such as data entry and recording figures.

About YOU:

• Supervisory experience ideally in a food retail environment.
• Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
• Open, honest & approachable nature, with an ability to listen and empathise with colleagues and maintain confidentiality.
• Flexible to work various shifts across the shop opening hours.
• Basic computer and numeracy skills
