Job summary

Chester Zoo is seeking part-time Retail Assistants to join our retail team on a permanent basis. You will work across gift shops, kiosks, and events, delivering world-class visitor service and supporting sales targets.

Role involves 20 hours per week (5/7 or 8 hours across 2/7), weekend work, late nights, early starts, and bank holidays. Benefits include leave, staff passes, cycle-to-work, healthcare, and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced retail or visitor attractions.
• Strong customer service and communication.
• Experience meeting sales targets and upselling.
• Cash handling and reconciliation.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high standards of customer service daily.
• Work toward sales targets and upsell products.
• Assist in visual merchandising of products.
• Handle cash and operate POS EPOS systems.
• Stock control and replenishment.
• Train and mentor seasonal assistants.
