Role Overview

As a Director in the Restructuring Team, you will lead client engagements, manage case portfolios, and drive innovative solutions in financial restructuring.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of case work with minimal partner involvement.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of pitches for new assignments, proposing commercial and innovative solutions to client issues.
  • Act as the lead contact for multiple client relationships, develop opportunities to win new work and support development of new products and services.
  • Lead and deliver financial restructuring engagements, including creditor‑side advisory mandates, business reviews, turnarounds, wind‑downs, contingency planning and formal insolvency, taking responsibility for all aspects of case strategy.
  • Apply technical knowledge appropriately and resolve client problems quickly, maintaining momentum on projects.
  • Act as an effective mentor to team members, supporting their career progression.
  • Take responsibility for compliance, best practice, risk management, budgets and billing, ensuring timely and profitable service.
  • Maintain a strong external network and proactive internal community engagement.
  • Lead discreet projects, balancing conflicting demands and removing obstacles to achieve results.
  • Adapt to a fast‑paced environment and demonstrate high energy style.
  • Define, communicate, motivate and drive change across stakeholders.
  • Negotiate complex situations with senior stakeholders.
  • Serve as a thought leader, delivering innovative solutions and new methodologies.
  • Produce expert written communications and client‑ready presentations.
  • Command the room, handle difficult audiences, and communicate persuasively.
Qualifications & Minimum Criteria
  • 10–15 years of relevant restructuring/distressed experience in a professional services or consulting firm environment.
  • Significant experience managing projects such as creditor‑side advisory mandates, company‑side turnaround, independent business reviews, short‑term cash‑flow reviews, accelerated sales processes, contingency planning and insolvency appointments.
  • Relevant accounting qualification (ACA, CA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent). Insolvency qualifications beneficial but not essential.
  • Developed network of contacts and generating work referrals directly or indirectly; responsible for marketing initiatives and business development activities.
