Job summary

Rudding Park is seeking a friendly Restaurant Host to deliver a warm, efficient welcome, manage bookings and guest correspondence, and assist the Restaurant Manager with table allocation and end-of-shift billing.

You will be the face of guest care, embody the Rudding Park philosophy, liaise with Reservations, Reception and Guest Relations, and help maintain high standards of service and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide a passionate and caring arrival for all guests in the Restaurant.
• Ensure that the Restaurant/ Host team provides a quality service while upholding the Rudding Park guest-care philosophy.
• Set up and implement policies and procedures necessary for the smooth running of the Restaurant Host team and ensure these are followed at all times.
• Ensure effective communication of all relevant information to the department and the hotel as a whole.
• Liaise with Reservations, Reception and Guest Relations daily regarding guest information/issues.
• Support Restaurant Managers with receiving guest feedback (positive/negative).
• Resolve guest complaints where possible and report to Restaurant Managers.
• Follow health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment and report accidents/near misses.
• Report and distribute daily Restaurant figures, shift reports and data.
• Deliver team briefs and prep meetings for smooth operation.
• Complete and store all relevant Restaurant paperwork.
• Be conversant with current/upcoming Restaurant and room offers and communicate these to guests.
• Follow cashing up procedures at all times.
• Work with Restaurant Manager to plan each service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a passionate and caring arrival for all guests in the Restaurant
• Ensure that the Restaurant/ Host team are providing a quality service to our guests, maintaining the Rudding Park philosophy on guest care.
• Set up and implement policies and procedures necessary for the smooth running of the Restaurant Host team and ensure these are followed at all times.
• Ensure effective communication of all relevant information to the department and the hotel as a whole
• Ensure the Host/ Restaurant team liaises with the Reservations, Reception and Guest Relations teams on a daily basis regarding any relevant guest information/ issues
• Support Restaurant Managers with receiving positive/ negative guest feedback
• Resolving guest complaints where possible and reporting to the Restaurant Managers.
• To ensure that all health and safety procedures are adhered to and these procedures are followed, to ensure a safe working environment to prevent accidents and hazards. Accidents and near misses must be recorded and reported immediately.
• Effectively reporting and distributing daily Restaurant figures, shift reports and data.
• Ensure delivery of adequate team briefs and preparation meetings to assist with smooth running of the operation.
• Ensure that all relevant Restaurant paperwork is completed in full and stored appropriately.
• To be fully conversant with the current and upcoming Restaurant and room offers and be able to effectively communicate these to our guests.
• Ensure correct cashing up procedures are followed at all time
• Work closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure each service is planned.

Working Relationships/Communication

• To interact and communicate effectively with all team members of the Restaurant and all members of the hotel team.
• To inspire and develop a 'can do' attitude with multi-disciplined staff.
• To make sure any positive and/or negative guest feedback is communicated to the manager as quickly as possible.
