Job summary

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced ward leader to provide senior nursing guidance, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and oversee daily unit management to sustain high standards of care.

You will oversee admissions and discharges, monitor staffing levels, manage resources, promote patient safety, and drive service improvements in line with national targets and trust policies.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current licence and broad clinical knowledge.
• Experience in ward management and multi-disciplinary teamwork.
• Understanding of risk management and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior nursing advice and support for high quality, individualised care.
• Lead investigations into incidents, accidents and complaints.
• Manage clinical areas and ensure safe staffing levels.
• Coordinate patient flow including admissions and discharges.
• Develop and implement local policies and protocols.
• Monitor stock and equipment to ensure efficient use of resources.
