Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Norwich is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant to join the Respiratory Physiotherapy Team. You will work under supervision to support post-operative patients receiving rehabilitation on acute wards, with a focus on facilitating recovery and patient safety.

Based in a busy NHS environment, you will assist with daily living activities, walking programs and exercises, under the direction of qualified physiotherapists, and participate in

Qualifications

• Previous therapy/healthcare assistant experience.
• Desire to facilitate patient recovery.
• Able to work on acute ward areas with potential drips, drains and wounds.

Responsibilities

• Work with supervision to undertake a variety of clinical tasks to support the delivery of Physiotherapy to patients.
• Undertake a limited supported teaching and supervisory role.
• Assist registered Physiotherapists with patient care and rehabilitation.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living e.g. walking, dressing, toileting.
• Teach and supervise simple exercise programmes.
• Assess, issue and teach the use of walking aids.
• Apply treatment modalities following testing (e.g. TENS and heat packs).
• Move and handle patients in line with Trust policies.
• Support in treatment such as balance training and gait re-education.
