Our work matters to millions. It'll matter to you too. Join our Power Transmission and Distribution team as a Resource Manager on the Design & Engineering team based in the Derby area and you'll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.

As a Resource Manager your role will be able to,

  • To ensure the effective and timely deployment of design resource to all UK based Design & Engineering disciplines.
  • To support current and future projects of Power T&D for OHL / Cabling / Substations /Multi-utilities by managing against accurate resourcing schedules to enable strategic resourcing plans to be developed in line with the business requirements
  • Support the UK business in the allocation of resources to D&E project deliverables in line with the agreed resourcing plan and requests for OHL / Cabling / Substation /Multi-utilities business streams.
  • Report to central resource function and use existing systems, documents and processes to effectively deploy and manage resource demand.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan and allocate design and engineering resource against demand.
  • Ensure regional/different client resource demands and requirements are supported.
  • Liaise with Design Delivery Managers and Engineering Managers to ensure all resource is in place.
  • Facilitating the movement of resources from project to project.
  • Support the development of an ongoing resourcing strategy to ensure current and future needs of the department are met.
  • Support the Design Delivery Managers in strategic planning, training and recruitment needs to ensure suitable skillsets and resource levels to deliver works.
  • Effectively communicate with a range of internal stake holders on short- and long-term plans to ensure collaboration in resource deployment.
  • Ensure all resource deployment is within governance of the Power T&D Business Gated Lifecycle.
  • Carry out weekly communications with Engineering Managers to ensure compliance against resource needs.
  • Engage with our Strategic Design Partners and other subcontract resource providers to ensure they have scope of work, durations, volumes and orders in place prior to starting work.
  • Produce effective Management Information on all D&E resource.
  • Provide support with the management of Early Careers staff within the D&E Department in terms of liaising with BB Group EC Recruitment, organising training, rotations and supporting their development.

Who we're looking for

Essential:
• Excellent planning skills, familiar with project management techniques and applications
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in both the operations and business support functions
• High tolerance for ambiguity and changing priorities and the ability to plan for contingencies and manage conflicting stakeholder priorities
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to consult with wide range of people at different levels
• Must have strong IT Skills, literate in all Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
• Proven ability to effectively allocate and manage resources to meet short and long term resource plans, with the ability to leverage resources to address business challenges

Desirable:
• Experienced in resource planning across a multi discipline environment, ideally within the power transmission industry.
