Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a qualified teaching assistant to support pupils in a specialist resource base at a two form entry school in Erdington. The role involves working with children who have complex needs, many ASD and non-verbal, and may require personal care.

You will join a team of TAs providing dedicated support across KS1. You should hold Level 3+ TA qualification (NVQ/CACHE preferred) and have recent primary experience, with Makaton being desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Level 3+ TA qualification or NVQ/CACHE preferred.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND one-to-one.
• Makaton experience preferable but not essential.
• Excellent knowledge of EYFS and KS1 curriculum.
• Recent primary school experience within the last 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide support in a specialist resource base attached to the school.

Job description

A 2 form entry school in Erdington are looking for a qualified teaching assistant to work in a specialist resource base attached to the school.

The children in this hub have complex needs and are predominantly ASD and non verbal. The suitable teaching assistant must be experienced in this field and be prepared to undertake personal care. The children are across Key Stage 1 age. There are other TA's in the hub who will support. This candidate is required to be a team player and help out where needs be.

To be successful in this role you will require:

• Level 3 + Teaching Assistant Qualification (NVQ / CACHE preferable)
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND on a one to one basis
• Experience of MAKATON is preferable but not essential
• Excellent working knowledge of the EYFS and KS1 curriculum
• Recent primary school experience within the last 2 years
