Job summary

Action for Children in Edinburgh is seeking a Residential Support Worker for day shifts to support young people during short breaks. The role offers permanent positions with full-time and part-time hours, including early and late shifts to cover a 7am–9:30pm window.

You will work closely with clinical partners to deliver consistent support plans, receive full induction and ongoing training, and have career progression opportunities within a welcoming team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a care setting and ability to build trusting relationships with the people you support.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or willingness to complete within 2 years with full support.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead in planning and coordinating care, assessing needs, reviewing progress and managing risk.
• Coordinate with other agencies and prepare written reports for families.
• Participate in professional meetings and advocate for the needs and views of the young people.
• Support young people in daily living, ensuring they feel safe and encouraged.
• Communicate well with young people, colleagues and professionals to build relationships.
• Think creatively and stay calm to approach challenges.
