Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council seeks a Residential Support Worker to join Alison Unit, supporting young people in a community-based setting. You’ll work 36 hours per week across 52 weeks, delivering trauma-informed, relationship-based care and upholding children’s rights within a safe, nurturing environment.

You’ll need experience with young people, strong communication skills, reliability and adaptability, and you may be working towards SVQ Level 3/HNC or SCQF Level 7 in Child/Social care.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting young people and promoting children’s rights.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; reliable and adaptable.
• Working towards SVQ Level 3/HNC or SCQF Level 7 or higher in Child Care/Social Care.
• Must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support and uphold the rights of children and young people.
• Provide care in a safe, nurturing environment within Alison House.
• Work as part of a dedicated team to improve outcomes for young people.
• Apply trauma-informed, relationship-based practice to daily care.
• Participate in pre-employment checks including PVG and overseas checks as required.
