Job summary

Residential Assistant (Support Worker) role at Essex County Council in Basildon. Permanent, part-time 32 hours per week with pro rata salary £22,451. You will support adults with learning and physical disability at Longwood Place short break service, working in a person-centred way as part of a team.

Full training and paid induction provided. You will follow care plans, help access social and leisure activities, monitor wellbeing, and promote independence while respecting dignity and privacy.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSE or equivalent (RQF Level 2) with willingness to achieve the award within 24 months.
• Experience in a social care setting and ability to work in a team.
• Good communication and ability to engage with diverse groups.
• Experience with adults with disability or willingness to work in this field.
• Understand person-centred approach, dignity and privacy; promote choice.
• Willing to undertake required training (manual handling, first aid, food hygiene, risk and conflict management, data protection, health and safety).

Responsibilities

• Provide support to individuals to reach their optimum independence and control in daily life.
• Assist access to social and leisure activities (college classes, community centres).
• Monitor wellbeing daily and report safeguarding concerns.
• Support individuals to make choices with dignity and privacy.
• Maintain respectful, patient interactions with adults, families and staff.
