Job summary

Compass Homes are seeking a committed Residential Support Worker in Worthing to help transform children’s lives. You will support children’s activities, health, wellbeing and safeguarding while building lasting relationships in a supportive team.

No prior experience is required as Skills to Care induction and shadow shifts prepare you for the role; guidance leads to a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Must be aged 22 or over to meet Ofsted regulations.
• Valid manual driving licence required.
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• No prior experience required; induction and shadow shifts provided.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate children’s activities and appointments, supporting health and wellbeing and safeguarding at all times.
• Meet a variety of children and young people with varying supervision needs.
• Support the wider team with routine domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking and shopping.
• Create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.

We are looking for someone who

- Is 22 years of age or above (to meet Ofsted regulations).

- Is caring, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with others.

- Has a valid manual driving licence.

- Has the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Previous experience is not essential for this role. Our Skills to Care induction includes 2 separate weeks of classroom-based training and a week of shadow shifts to prepare for the new role.

You will also be supported to achieve your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. This qualification is achievable within a 12-month period, at which point you will be a Level 3 qualified Residential Support Worker, supporting your ongoing development and career progression with Compass.

What will I do as a Residential Support Worker?

Compass Homes are built around accepting a child as they are in a non-judgemental way. You will allow our children to experience childhood, build self-esteem and accept themselves, helping their journey into adulthood.

- You will help facilitate children’s activities and appointments, supporting them in all aspects of their lives. You will ensure their health and wellbeing, safeguarding them at all times.

- You will meet a variety of children and young people, some of whom may require high levels of supervision and support.

- You will support the wider team with a range of domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and food shopping.

- You will create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.
