Job summary

Compass Community is recruiting Residential Support Workers to help children grow in a safe, supportive home. This role welcomes experienced workers or newcomers and includes Skills to Care induction and shadow shifts.

You will support activities, health and wellbeing, and safeguarding, while helping with domestic tasks and reporting. The pathway includes a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 12 months, with progression opportunities and a competitive package including sleep-in

Qualifications

  • No previous experience required; induction provided with classroom and shadow shifts.
  • Willingness to complete Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 12 months.
  • Ability to work in a non-judgemental, child-centred environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate children’s activities and appointments, support health and wellbeing, and safeguarding at all times.
  • Meet a variety of children and young people, including those needing high levels of supervision.
  • Support the wider team with domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking and food shopping.
  • Create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.

We are looking for someone who


  • Is 22 years of age or above (to meet Ofsted regulations).

  • Is caring, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with others.

  • Has a valid manual driving licence.

  • Has the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.


Previous experience is not essential for this role. Our Skills to Care induction includes 2 separate weeks of classroom-based training and a week of shadow shifts to prepare for the new role.


You will also be supported to achieve your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. This qualification is achievable within a 12-month period, at which point you will be a Level 3 qualified Residential Support Worker, supporting your ongoing development and career progression with Compass.


What will I do as a Residential Support Worker?

Compass Homes are built around accepting a child as they are in a non-judgemental way. You will allow our children to experience childhood, build self-esteem and accept themselves, helping their journey into adulthood.



  • You will help facilitate children’s activities and appointments, supporting them in all aspects of their lives. You will ensure their health and wellbeing, safeguarding them at all times.

  • You will meet a variety of children and young people, some of whom may require high levels of supervision and support.

  • You will support the wider team with a range of domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and food shopping.

  • You will create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.
