Job summary

Compass Community in the West Midlands seeks a dedicated Residential Support Worker to help transform the lives of children in a supportive care setting. You will facilitate activities, support wellbeing, and work closely with the team to ensure a safe, nurturing environment.

No prior experience is required as we provide Skills to Care induction, two weeks of classroom training, shadow shifts, and support to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 12 months, enabling

Qualifications

• Must be 22 years of age or over to meet Ofsted regulations.
• Caring, compassionate and able to build positive relationships.
• Valid manual driving licence.
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Previous experience not essential; induction and Level 3 Diploma training supported.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate children’s activities and appointments, supporting health and wellbeing.
• Meet a variety of children and young people with varying supervision needs.
• Support the wider team with domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking and shopping.
• Create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

• Is 22 years of age or above (to meet Ofsted regulations).
• Is caring, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with others.
• Has a valid manual driving licence.
• Has the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Previous experience is not essential for this role. Our Skills to Care induction includes 2 separate weeks of classroom-based training and a week of shadow shifts to prepare for the new role. You will also be supported to achieve your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. This qualification is achievable within a 12-month period, at which point you will be a Level 3 qualified Residential Support Worker, supporting your ongoing development and career progression with Compass.

What will I do as a Residential Support Worker?

• You will help facilitate children’s activities and appointments, supporting them in all aspects of their lives. You will ensure their health and wellbeing, safeguarding them at all times.
• You will meet a variety of children and young people, some of whom may require high levels of supervision and support.
• You will support the wider team with a range of domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and food shopping.
• You will create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.
