Job summary

Oxbridge Summer Scholars is seeking Student Supervisors for a December programme in Oxford. This full-time, residential role is based in an Oxford college and includes weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities include safeguarding, living in college, assisting with arrivals/departures, reporting attendance, and coordinating evening activities under guidance. Training and an enhanced DBS check are essential, with prior experience with 14–19s advantageous.

Qualifications

• Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Level 1 training is essential.
• An Enhanced DBS check is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential.
• Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are essential.
• Experience working with students aged 14–19 is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• On-the-ground safeguarding of students and managing student behaviour and wellbeing.
• Living in college for the duration of the programme, plus the preparation day.
• Dining in college alongside students and staff.
• Assisting with student arrivals and departures; showing students to their rooms and helping them settle in.
• Reporting student attendance for each session.
• Being on call to assist the Programme Manager to ensure the programme runs smoothly (e.g. printing materials for tutors, running purchasing errands).
• Planning, preparing and running timetabled evening activities (with guidance from the Programme Manager).
• Monitoring student whereabouts and the 10pm curfew each evening.
• Staffing weekend excursions (with guidance from the Programme Manager).
• Handling situations such as student illness, travel issues, and other unexpected matters.
• Accompanying students to hospital or a medical centre if required.
• Reporting any concerns to the Programme Manager and/or the Academic Director.
• Capturing daily photo/video content for our social media.
• Contributing to a 24-hour emergency contact rota for student support.
