Job summary

Valence School is seeking a fixed-term maternity cover in the residential team. You will act as the named keyworker for a small group of students, building strong relationships and leading personalised programmes for their personal, social, emotional and educational development.

The role is term-time only, 40 hours per week, with set shifts from 7am to 10pm and no weekends. Visa sponsorship is not available; recruitment runs on a rolling basis.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Familiar with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Act as named keyworker for a small group of students.
• Lead personalised programmes for personal, social, emotional and educational development.
• Support access to learning in class and residential routines.
• Develop students' independence and life skills across the curriculum.
• Plan activities and run group sessions.
• Collaborate with staff, parents and external agencies.
• Support day-to-day care, wellbeing and residents' development.
• Assist with personal care.
• Assist with moving, handling and health tasks.
• Work flexibly with early morning and late shifts.
