Job summary

Valence School is seeking Residential Education Support Staff to help students thrive in classroom and residential settings. You will support personal, social, emotional and educational development while fostering independence and life skills.

The role involves significant moving and handling and personal care, with on-site overnight accommodation for 10pm–7am shifts. Full-time hours include 40 per week, with part-time options also available.

Qualifications

• Physically capable of safely supporting students with disabilities and complex medical needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with safeguarding awareness.
• Committed to professional development, including completing the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

Responsibilities

• Support students across education and residential settings, promoting development including personal care and mealtime assistance.
• Implement care plans, promote independence, and maintain effective communication with staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Safely support students requiring medical interventions, following emergency procedures and risk assessments.
• Attend required training and assist with medication preparation and administration including gastrostomy feeds.
• Enable participation in activities aligned with the Preparing for Adulthood framework.
• Record and report information accurately and promptly while maintaining a flexible, proactive approach.
