Job summary

Wates Residential is seeking a Design Manager to lead the design on a residential project, coordinating the design process from tender through completion to support procurement and construction.

The role requires managing design teams, consultants and approvals, with a focus on buildability, safety, and value engineering, while collaborating with project, commercial and pre-construction teams.

Qualifications

• Experience leading design teams, consultants and subcontractors.
• Knowledge of CDM, Building Regulations and health and safety.
• Understanding of procurement, risk, sustainability and MEP systems.
• Experience managing design programmes, information schedules and change control.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Qualification such as CIOB/MCIOB, HNC/HND Architecture or Construction Technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the design process to meet the project programme.
• Review design information for buildability, safety, risks and value engineering.
• Manage consultants, subcontractors, technical queries, approvals and design changes.
• Work with project, commercial and pre-construction teams during tender and delivery.
• Support BIM integration and Golden Thread requirements.
• Maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
