Job summary

Wates Residential is seeking a Senior Design Manager to provide technical leadership across major regeneration projects from pre-construction to completion. You will coordinate design teams, consultants and internal units to produce buildable, compliant designs.

You will drive design programmes, approvals and changes, support BIM and Building Safety requirements, and develop the design team. Strong leadership and MCIOB/Chartered status is preferred for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Significant design management experience within construction.
• Strong knowledge of CDM requirements, Building Safety Gateways and health and safety legislation.
• Experience managing consultants, design programmes, technical approvals and design change.
• Understanding of BIM, digital information management and the Golden Thread.
• Ability to identify design risks and develop practical, commercially considered solutions.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
• MCIOB status and/or Chartered Engineer or Architect status, or relevant equivalent experience.

Job description

Ready to help shape the next chapter of a major regeneration project? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join Wates Residential. You will provide technical leadership across a major project or a smaller cluster of projects, overseeing the design process from pre-construction and tender stage through to completion.

Working closely with our project, commercial and pre-construction teams, you will ensure designs are coordinated, commercially considered, compliant and practical to build. You will also lead and support the development of design management colleagues across the project.

As Our Senior Design Manager, You Will

• Lead the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.

• Manage design programmes, technical approvals, risks and changes.
• Support BIM, digital information management and Building Safety requirements.

You will bring strong technical knowledge of construction methods, design processes and project delivery, alongside the ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.

You Will Ideally Have
