Job summary

Thomson Hayton Winkley Solicitors & The Rural Law Practice in Kendal seeks an experienced residential property solicitor to manage a full conveyancing caseload from start to finish, building trust with clients and lenders. You will handle instructions, ensure compliance with Lexcel standards, and contribute to the department’s growth.

Responsibilities

• Take client instructions and provide legal advice and assistance.
• Run a case load of client matters in line with office procedures.
• Record time accurately, bill promptly and manage credit control.
• Respond promptly to client enquiries and maintain strong client relationships.
• Ensure files comply with Lexcel and regulatory standards.
• Support business development and attract new clients.

Overall purpose:We are looking for an experienced and client-focused individual to join our Residential Property team. This role involves managing a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters from start to finish. You’ll build strong relationships with clients, estate agents and lenders, taking pride in clear

communication, attention to detail and excellent standards of service. Our team

value collaboration, continuous development and delivering positive outcomes at every stage of the property journey.

Key accountabilities:

• Taking client instructions, providing legal advice and assistance
• Running a case load of client matters in accordance with office procedures
• Demonstrate commercial awareness through accurate time recording, timely billing, and proactive credit control
• Dealing with client enquiries promptly
• Ensure all files are managed in line with Lexcel and statutory compliance standards
• Respond promptly and positively to new client enquiries
• Build strong, lasting relationships through excellent client care
• Contribute to the growth of the department and helping attract new clients
• Maintaining knowledge and skills through legal training and research in accordance with the regulatory requirements
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment
• Contribute to maintaining and improving office procedures
• Helping to market and promote the firm wherever possible
• Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm

Person specification:

• Proven experience in Residential Property / Conveyancing
• Strong client care skills and a sensitive, professional approach
• Confident managing your own caseload
• Self-motivated, organised and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
