Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking an experienced Construction Director to lead its residential development operations. You will provide strategic and operational direction across a multi-site portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.

Reporting to the senior leadership, you will manage Contracts Managers, Project Managers and Site teams, develop processes, build the team, and maintain strong relationships with clients and delivery partners.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Construction Director or senior construction leader in the residential sector (new build).
• Strong track record of leading multi-site residential programmes from pre-construction to delivery.
• Experience developing and shaping a construction function, building the team, processes and structure for growth.
• Experience in developing and improving construction processes, systems and delivery models.
• Resilient, solutions-focused with ability to manage challenges while maintaining longer-term objectives.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic and operational leadership across the construction portfolio.
• Overseeing multiple new-build residential developments from pre-construction through to completion.
• Managing and supporting Contracts Managers, Project Managers and Site teams.
• Monitoring programme, quality, health & safety and overall project performance.
• Working closely with the commercial, design and pre-construction teams.
• Supporting project teams with operational and delivery challenges.
• Developing and maintaining construction processes and standards.
• Reviewing resource requirements across the portfolio.
• Developing the operational team and supporting succession planning.
• Reporting on project performance and key operational issues to the senior leadership team.
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and development partners.
