Job summary

CrossReach seeks a Night Support Practitioner at Millmuir Farm House near Stirling to support children and young people during the night in a therapeutic, safe environment. You will provide a calm presence, respond to incidents, and help prepare the setting for the day ahead.

Requirements include experience with children or care settings, a full manual driving licence, PVG and SSSC checks, and a commitment to CrossReach’s Christian ethos. Training and development opportunities are offered.

Job description

Millmuir Farm House is tucked away on the edge of the village of Gargunnock, near Stirling, offering a safe and nurturing home for two young people. With cosy bedrooms and welcoming spaces, it is a peaceful place where children and young people can settle, grow, and feel supported. Our focus is on building confidence, developing life skills, and preparing young people for their next steps, all within a therapeutic and homely environment.

As a Night Support Practitioner within our Children & Family Services, you will play a key role in supporting children and young people during the most vulnerable part of their day.

Night shifts are quieter, but they are not passive. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, calm environment, responding to situations as they arise and offering reassurance when it is needed most.

What your night could look like

• Providing a calm and consistent presence throughout the night
• Supporting children and young people who may wake distressed or anxious
• Responding to incidents and managing challenging situations
• Completing checks, records and reports accurately
• Preparing the environment for the next day
• Working as part of a wider team

This role involves working three 10-hour night shifts per week (10pm to 8am), with every second weekend off.

About you

You will have experience working with children, young people or within a care or education setting and understand that even during the night, situations can arise that require a calm and confident response. You will be able to work independently, remain alert and make sound decisions when needed. You will be patient, reliable and able to manage your time effectively across a night shift. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, an HNC in Social Care and SVQ Level 3 and must hold a full manual driving licence. This post is subject to PVG Scheme membership and SSSC registration requirements.
