Do you thrive in making a difference to the lives of young people? Do you have a passion to work with children? We are looking for an individual to work within our LD Children's Home in Oldham.
You may be wondering what "a day in the life of an RCW" might look like? Well typically, it starts like any other day, in any other household. You support the young person in getting up and starting their day ahead, whether that is in preparation for going to school or preparing for a fun- filled weekend. The young people are supported with learning and building on all aspects of their self-care and are encouraged to be as independent as possible by building on existing life skills, as well as introducing new ones.
The young people are given freedom of choice in aspects of their lives, when and where possible, from what they would like for lunch to what activity they would like to participate in. On a daily basis, we support the young people in attending school, having contact visits with their families, transporting them to and from appointments and facilitating recreational activities. We also support our young people to go on annual holidays to different locations both in the UK and abroad.
You will forge meaningful and positive relationships with the young people and their families and work closely with your team and all the other professionals involved in each young person's life.
You will work within the Therapeutic Model used within each home, and work alongside the company therapists to ensure each young person is able to thrive and make real change in their lives. As you can see, no two days are the same! Of course, there will be challenging times that require a good team spirit after a long shift, but seeing the smile on a young person's face after they have reached a milestone or achieved something important, is priceless!
So, if you are kind, resilient, and have a "can do" attitude, we want to hear from you!
