Job summary

Cheshire East Council is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker on a casual basis, based in Cheshire East, to provide day-to-day care to children and young people in a safe, nurturing environment.

You will safeguard and promote welfare, follow care plans and risk assessments, and form positive relationships with children, families and external agencies, while maintaining high-quality records under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce or a relevant degree (e.g., social work).
  • Relevant experience of working in a childcare setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Childrens Home (England) Regulations 2015 and the quality standards within it.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the borough.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Residential Childcare Worker, on a casual basis, based within Cheshire East, providing day-to-day care to children and young people within a stable, safe and nurturing environment.

About the Role
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
  • Work in accordance with children's and young people's care plans and risk assessments and contribute to their review.
  • Form effective relationships with children and young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies.
  • Maintain and promote residential childcare to high levels of professionalism expected by Cheshire East Council and Ofsted.
  • Contribute to the educational and social development of each child and young person and assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans.
  • Meet the emotional and physical needs of our children and young people and maximize opportunities for their development.
  • Ensure that good quality records are maintained as required with supervision and advice from Senior Residential Support Workers and Managers.
  • Ensure that the council's policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure the home is kept clean and in a tidy condition, adhere to the cleaning rota system, encouraging the children and young people to participate as appropriate.
The successful candidate will bring:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce or relevant degree, for example in social work
  • Relevant experience of working in a childcare setting
  • Excellent knowledge of the Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015 and the quality standards within it
  • All essential residential courses
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the borough
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
