Job summary

Skycare currently has vacancies for Support Worker in Residential Childcare in West Yorkshire. You will work across homes in Pontefract, Featherstone, Castleford, Wakefield, with 33-42 hours per week and shift patterns.

Role requires 21+; a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent is preferred, plus willingness to obtain further qualifications within 18 months. DBS enhanced checks are required and driving is preferred for covering multiple homes.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years old.
• Full UK driving license preferable.
• Availability for sleep-in shifts.
• Understanding of issues facing young people in care.
• Willing to work towards a required qualification within 18 months.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Willing to learn and work well in a small team.
• DBS check will be paid for by us.

Responsibilities

• Support children daily routines and activities, including meals and school runs.
• Promote personal hygiene, independence, socialisation, and bedtime routines.
• Attend medical appointments and follow activity plans.
• Complete day sheets, handover documents, and daily paperwork.
• Manage budgeting requirements and daily housekeeping tasks.
• Coordinate meals, kitchen hygiene, and shopping needs.
• Conduct checks (COSHH, Fire/Car) as required.
• Build relationships with families and note important dates.
