Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker for Bright Star in Worthing. The role requires promoting daily living skills, supporting children aged 7-18 with diverse needs, and working on a 37-hour rota including weekends. DBS and safeguarding checks apply.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent; must complete within two years if not held.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and families.
• Ability to coordinate with multi-agency teams to support the child.
• Ability to use initiative to resolve problems within defined parameters.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks.
• Ability to work as part of a team around a child.
• Good literacy to write reports on individuals and incidents.
• Experience working with children with physical disabilities, autism and/or challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Assist with morning routines and personal care to promote independence.
• Support daily living skills and guide activities and trips.
