Job description

Salary: Unqualified: Base salary of £24,194.04 with the potential to earn up to a total of £29,594.04 with sleep in shifts.

Qualified (full diploma Level 3 qualified or equivalent): Base salary of £24,741.60 with the potential to earn up to a total of £30,141.60 with sleep in shifts.

Specific Hours: 39 hours per week

Dove Adolescent Services are looking for Residential Childcare Support Workers to join our new home in Doncaster. As part of our team, you will help provide flexible, individual residential care packages for children and young people. We invest heavily in the continued professional development of our employees – that’s why our Operations Directors and the majority of our Home Managers all began their careers at Dove as Residential Childcare Support Workers and worked their way up.

As a Young Persons Support Worker, your day isn’t always spent in one of our Residential Children’s Homes… walking or biking the Pennine trails, catching the latest film at the cinema or thrill seeking at a theme park is all on the agenda – the list is endless and all depends on the interests of our young people.

Your main duties and requirements would include, but not are not limited to:

  1. Promoting, safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our young people
  2. Establishing and maintaining positive and trusting relationships with our young people
  3. Encouraging the development of the individual interests of our young people
  4. A desire to learn, we provide full training for you to achieve a Childcare Diploma Level 3/ Apprenticeship Level 4

What do we need from you?

  1. Experience of supporting young people who may be vulnerable is desired but not essential
  2. Understanding and commitment to the role - including some weekends and bank holidays
  3. Undertake sleep-in duties as part of a flexible rota
  4. Participating in activities and ensuring we provide young people with a place they feel at home
  5. Be capable of working on your own initiative
  6. Have good inter-personal skills and be a positive team player
  7. A desire to engage, motivate and encourage the young people in our homes
