Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Residential Child Care Practitioner for Pinecroft, an outstanding Ofsted-rated service. You will provide high-quality, trauma-informed care to children aged 8-18 with disabilities, manage care plans, and work a shift rota including early, late, long days, sleep-ins and weekends.

You will be a professional role model, demonstrate resilience, and engage with families and partner agencies to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

Salary £29,841 –£35,675 per year (inclusive of 15% shift allowance)

About the role

Pinecroft shared care service has achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted and is dedicated to supporting children with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and/or sensory impairment. We pride ourselves in offering high quality personalised care to the most vulnerable and complex children aged 8-18. Our goal is to transform lives by being passionate, committed and creative in everything we do. We believe improved outcomes for children are possible through a proactive and consistent approach, where learning through play and accessing the community is essential. As a Residential Child Care Practitioner, you will:

• Ensure care plans and risk assessments are up to date and reflect the needs of each child.

Staff are required to work on a shift pattern rota, which will include a combination of early (7am-3pm) and late (2pm-10pm) shifts, long days (7am-10pm), sleep-ins, alternate weekend working and religious celebration days.
