Job summary

West Sussex County Council in Crawley is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker to provide a nurturing and safe environment for children with complex needs. You will support a child’s plan, assist with daily routines, attendance at school, independence and mealtimes, while engaging families and carers in planning and development.

The role requires a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) with two years to complete if not held, strong English literacy, teamwork and ability to

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent; must achieve within two years of appointment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and families
• Ability to promote a multi-agency approach to support the child
• Ability to use initiative to resolve problems within given parameters
• Good standard of English and literacy; report writing abilities

Responsibilities

• Provide a nurturing, positive and safe environment for children and young people
• Support each child’s individual plan: morning routine, school attendance, independence skills and mealtimes
