Overview
We are looking for individuals to support our young people in a residential home setting in Mid Devon. These individuals are profoundly deaf and need support in their day-to-day life.
All of the young adults use British Sign Language to communicate, and all communication is supported by AAC devices and visual imagery.
Some knowledge of BSL is desired; however, courses will be offered based on current experience and qualifications.
Specialist equipment and facilities are provided to support the challenges faced with sensory loss, such as; specialist fire systems, vibrating pads, access to a minicom, and internet connection for FaceTime or Skype.
As part of the team, you will work closely with local organizations and services to offer a variety of activities, hobbies, educational input, and support for attending Deaf events and integrating into the Deaf community. You will also be involved in the daily running of the home and supporting residents' daily needs.
We seek passionate and creative individuals to join our longstanding team and continue providing outstanding care to our young people.
You will be supported by a dedicated core team and receive on-the-job training.
DBS and reference checks will be conducted in line with government regulations and safer recruitment practices.
