Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference for children and young people? In Warrington, all our children’s homes are Ofsted-rated GOOD or OUTSTANDING. We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to join one of our new homes.

In partnership with our health colleagues, we are opening an innovative residential home for children with complex mental health needs, offering outreach services to support relationship building prior to living in the home and support permanency once moving on from the home.

The role

We are looking for resilient, compassionate, and driven individuals to join our team as Residential Care Workers, supporting the most vulnerable children with complex needs, who may have mental health diagnoses and display high levels of self-harming behavior, as well as experiencing adverse childhood experiences and trauma.

The home will include a registered homes manager, two deputy managers, senior residential staff, residential care workers, wake night staff, and health staff.

The home will offer outreach work to children in distress, struggling with their emotions, to support relationship building before they potentially move into the home. This is a 4-bed short to medium-term home registered under the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

This is a 37-hour permanent contract. The hours will cover a 24/7 service, including weekends, bank holidays, and unsociable hours on a rota basis. You will receive a competitive enhancement to your hourly rate for weekend work and working past 7 pm on weekdays.

The home will be subject to at least one full OFSTED inspection annually.

What’s needed?

Essential criteria marked in the person specification are required for this role.

The ability to communicate effectively with residents, external professionals, and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential.

DBS clearance is required.

Benefits

Alongside a competitive salary, benefits include:

  • 26 days annual holiday, increasing to 31 days after 5 years (pro-rata)
  • Access to attractive benefits packages
  • Participation in our Health & Wellbeing Programme
