Job description

Join our award-winning team

We’re seeking Residential Care Workers to join our inspiring team supporting our students (aged 9-25) to develop their independent living skills, whilst supporting their education.

Are you passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives? Do you want a varied and rewarding job where you’ll also be getting out and about planning and organising social activities locally and further afield?

No experience is necessary. We’ll provide full training, including British Sign Language (BSL) training.

We’re seeking Residential Care Workers to support our students at either our new adult residential centre or our on-site residential flats at the academy. Both are based in Exmouth, just a few minutes walk from the beach.

Every day as a Residential Care Worker is different. You’ll support our young people who live in our Academy Residential Home to develop their independent living skills and organise social activities, such as trips to the local community, beach, cinema, or bowling, and further afield. Our students spend their days in our School or College, with some undertaking work placements or qualifications elsewhere, before returning to our residential flats. The shift pattern is outside of ‘school hours’.

At the Deaf Academy, we foster a unique culture focused on student and employee development. We inspire the next generation to achieve incredible things. As an award-winning organisation, our teams create a positive, stimulating environment for children and young people to thrive. We are looking for extraordinary people to join us and help shape our future. Working with us offers fantastic benefits and invaluable training to develop your career.

*This position is during the academy’s term time, plus an additional 5 training days. The minimum salary for this role with no sleep-in rate applied is £23,854 per annum (for those working the Mon-Fri shift pattern). The salary including sleep-ins may be up to £27,411 per annum (covering the maximum sleep-ins for full shift pattern), or £29,896 per annum for those at the top of the pay scale.

We have multiple roles available and will shortlist applications on a rolling basis. The academy may close or amend the advert before the closing date.

Does the job role include personal care? Yes
