Location: West Midlands

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people in West Midlands? We have a role for you as a Residential Social Care Worker in a four-bedded children's home. You must have experience working with children; experience in a residential home is desirable. We prefer to use regular workers to build strong relationships with children. Whether you are an experienced Care Practitioner or seeking a career change, we would love to hear from you.

We provide a comprehensive induction and training before the home's opening, including a funded Level 4 Residential Childcare qualification, to support our commitment to delivering high-quality care.

In the West Midlands, Children’s Services is a top priority within our Council Plan, placing children at the heart of our work.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing a safe, stable, supportive, and stimulating environment to help children and young people build a brighter future.

Rota: Two shift patterns: 7:00am - 3:00pm and 2:00pm - 10:00pm. All staff must complete a week's induction (9:00am - 5:00pm) before lone working with children.

Our Offer to You:

  • A funded Level 4 qualification in Residential Care (minimum 16 hours/week required for apprenticeship)
  • Quality training and coaching via our Children’s Social Care Academy
  • Competitive pay
  • Clear career pathway
  • Access to Local government pension
  • 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 after 5 years, plus options to buy additional days
  • Employee Assistance Programme – 24/7 free and confidential support
  • Family and carer-friendly policies
  • Additional benefits: staff discounts, subsidised travel passes, Cycle 2 Work Scheme

About You:

You will hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or be willing to work towards a Level 4 Diploma within two years. Experience in health and social care or educational settings, especially with challenging behaviors, is essential. Strong communication skills, self-awareness, and relationship-building abilities are required. You must be passionate about learning and safeguarding procedures. A valid driving license and access to a car are necessary, with reasonable adjustments for disabled applicants.

While based at one of our three children’s residential homes, you may be required to cover across all locations to meet the needs of our children and young people.

Eligibility: Must be able to work in the UK, hold a full driving license.
