Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a Support Assistant for a Category 2 sheltered housing scheme in Havant. You will provide practical day-to-day support, including domestic duties, personal reassurance, and emergency personal care, helping residents stay independent.

Work with families, care agencies, social workers, and GPs while supporting safety checks and activities. DBS at Standard/Enhanced level is required prior to offer.

Qualifications

• Be caring, approachable and enjoy supporting and listening to people.
• Communicate clearly and confidently with residents and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
• Be willing to provide domestic assistance and, in an emergency, support with personal care.
• Be physically able to undertake moving and handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical day-to-day support to residents to maintain independence.
• Promote wellbeing and help residents feel safe, connected and supported.
• Liaise with families, care agencies, social workers and GPs as needed.
• Support the Scheme Manager with building security, health and safety checks, and activity promotion.
