Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking an experienced and inspirational leader to head the Reservoir Regulation team across England, ensuring compliance with the Reservoirs Act and safeguarding public safety.

You will steer strategic priorities, develop a high-performing, inclusive team, and collaborate with Defra, industry, and stakeholders to deliver robust regulation and modernisation of the Reservoirs Act 1975. National role with flexible base location and travel across England.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Regulation, Civil Engineering, Law or similar field relevant to Reservoir Regulation.
• Proven strategic leadership with high-performing delivery.
• Track record of driving high performance and fostering psychological safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive stakeholder management, building trust and collaboration.
• Set strategic priorities aligned to EA Regulatory strategy and drive operational delivery.
• Develop and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the team.
• Foster psychological safety to empower decision making and innovation.
• Manage complex, multi-agency risks to uphold public safety standards.
• Provide senior user input for Reservoir Safety Reform Programme.
