Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking an experienced leader to head the Reservoir Regulation team, guiding regulation across England to ensure public safety under the Reservoirs Act. You will lead a diverse, high-performing team, working with senior stakeholders and external bodies to deliver strategic outcomes and drive reform efforts.

The role emphasises collaboration, change leadership, and safeguarding the public while supporting a broad, nationwide team.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Regulation, Civil Engineering, Law or similar relevant to Reservoir Regulation.
• Strategic leadership demonstrated through translating strategy into delivery.
• Track record of driving high performance and psychological safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive stakeholder management to build trust and collaboration.
• Set strategic priorities aligned to EA Regulatory strategy and drive delivery.
• Develop and embed a culture of continuous improvement to meet changing needs.
• Foster a culture of psychological safety enabling confident decision making and innovation.
• Manage complex, fast-paced, multi-agency risks to uphold public safety.
• Provide senior input for Reservoir Safety Reform Programme with Defra.
