Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking an experienced leader to head the Reservoir Regulation team in a national role across England. You will drive regulation under the Reservoirs Act 1975, working with Defra and senior partners to secure public safety and deliver reform.

The role requires strategic leadership, regulation expertise, and the ability to influence cross‑sector stakeholders while building a high‑performance, psychologically safe team culture across a dispersed workforce.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Regulation, Civil Engineering, Law or similar.
• Proven strategic leadership delivering high-quality operational outcomes.
• Experience driving high-performance culture and psychological safety.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build consensus.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive stakeholder management with trusted relationships.
• Set strategic priorities aligned to EA Regulatory strategy and drive delivery.
• Foster continuous improvement to meet evolving business and stakeholder needs.
• Promote psychological safety to empower decision making and innovation.
• Manage complex regulatory risks to uphold public safety.
• Provide senior input to Reservoir Safety Reform Programme.
