Job summary

The Environment Agency seeks an experienced, inspirational leader to head the Reservoir Regulation team, setting strategic priorities to ensure compliance with the Reservoirs Act and uphold public safety across England. You will guide collaborative work across regulators, industry and external partners, driving change while supporting a diverse workforce to thrive.

As well as senior leadership credentials, you will have regulation, flood risk management, civil engineering or legal expertise,

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Regulation, Civil Engineering, Law or similar field.
• Strategic leadership with delivery of high-quality operational outcomes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide multi‑agency collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive stakeholder management to build trust and collaboration.
• Set strategic priorities aligned to EA Regulatory strategy and deliver efficiently.
• Develop and embed a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
• Foster psychological safety, empower decision making, and enable innovation.
• Manage complex multi‑agency risks to uphold public safety.
• Provide senior user input for the Reservoir Safety Reform Programme.
• Translate strategic intent into high‑quality operational delivery.
• Drive a high‑performance culture with accountability and support.
• Generate innovative ideas and challenge existing assumptions.
• Influence senior stakeholders to secure optimal outcomes.
