Job summary

University of Cambridge, through Cambridge University Libraries and Archives, seeks a collaborative Research Support Librarian to support the School of Biological Sciences (SBS). The role focuses on guiding research lifecycles, promoting open research, and enhancing the impact of researchers’ work across Downing and West Cambridge sites.

We are seeking a collaborative and proactive Research Support Librarian to join the Biological Sciences Libraries Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in delivering specialist research support services across the School of Biological Sciences (SBS), helping researchers maximise the quality, visibility, and impact of their work.

The role

The Research Support Librarian will provide expert guidance and training across the research lifecycle, supporting open research, systematic reviews and research assessment across the School of Biological Sciences (SBS). Working closely with researchers and colleagues across Cambridge University Libraries and Archives, you will help advance research excellence and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality library services across the Downing and West Cambridge sites.

As a Research Support Librarian (SBS) you will

• Develop and deliver research support services tailored to the needs of the School of Biological Sciences, representing and advocating for its research priorities.
• Engage in data‑driven evaluation of services and resources to ensure their suitability, identify new needs and support continuous improvement.
• Lead the delivery of targeted research skills training for the SBS research community.
• Drive the development of the Biological Sciences Libraries' digital presence through engaging, user‑focused web pages and SharePoint content.
• Contribute to shared team goals by collaborating effectively and fostering a supportive team culture.

• Proven ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with stakeholders.
• Experience delivering teaching, training, or learning support both online and in‑person.
• Knowledge of academic information resources and databases, with experience in developing user‑focused STEM library collections and services.
• A customer‑focused professional with a commitment to excellent service and flexibility to work across multiple sites.
