Job summary

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Research Nurse within the Research & Development team. You will lead and support a diverse portfolio of clinical studies, ensuring delivery in line with NIHR targets and Good Clinical Practice across hospital and community settings.

The role emphasizes education, mentorship, governance, and contributing to a growing research culture while supporting staff as a visible advocate for research within the organisation.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) with post-registration experience.
• GCP Accreditation (or willingness to obtain).
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
• Teaching qualification is desirable.
• Leadership development programme attendance is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a portfolio of clinical research studies from set-up to close-down in line with protocols, GCP, and regulatory requirements.
• Independently screen, recruit, consent and support participants throughout their research journey with accurate documentation.
• Coordinate and deliver research visits, collect samples when required, and monitor safety signals such as adverse events.

Education

NMC Registered Nurse (post-registration experience)

Health/Biological Degree or equivalent research experience

GCP Accreditation

Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Teaching qualification

Leadership development programme attendance
