The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to make a significant contribution to the research output and future of the Institute. CIMR is an interdisciplinary biomedical research institute within the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, sited on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. At the interface between laboratory research and the clinic, CIMR's mission is to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health. To achieve this, we leverage deep collaborations between basic and clinician scientists built on shared interests, outstanding core facilities and an inclusive, supportive working environment

The post holder will work with the Director and other senior leaders to help maintain and enhance the outstanding research environment at CIMR. They will focus on supporting the development and submission of both cross-institute programmatic grant applications and smaller individual grant applications, identifying opportunities, building communities and providing writing and logistical support. They will also lead on key aspects of research culture, developing and delivering a Research Integrity strategy and line managing a public engagement professional to help shape our highly active widening participation and communication strategy. They will also work closely with the CIMR Administrator, PA to the Director and other members of the administration team to provide joined-up strategic, operational and administrative support to the Director and Institute.

The successful candidate will have undergraduate training relevant to cell biology or medicine, with further study at graduate and postdoctoral level desirable, as well as experience in scientific research management in an academic environment. They will have excellent writing and communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills in listening, team working and consensus building. They will be independent, motivated, and committed to the long-term success of CIMR.

The full incremental salary range for the position is advertised in order to demonstrate the progression of the Grade. In the majority of case appointments will be made at the Grade minimum, although appointments at a higher salary can be offered to the right candidate.

The position is supported for 3 years initially, with the expectation that further funding will be sought to extend the position to be a long-term feature of the Institute.
