Are you an experienced Researcher with specialist skills in graphene and related materials looking for an opportunity to join the UK's first modern research-intensive university?
We are seeking a full-time Research Fellow for a 24-month fixed-term position to contribute to three Horizon Europe projects: GIANCE, ZEvRA, and BIOntier. Working under the direction of Professor Ahmed Elmarakbi, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary, collaborative EU-wide research team.
Your role will focus on the design and development of advanced composites, including conventional materials and bio-based/graphene-related (GRM) composites. Key responsibilities include circular design, multi-parameter optimisation, modelling and numerical simulations, as well as conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC).
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated researcher eager to work on innovative, cross-sectoral projects addressing next-generation sustainable materials and technologies within the European research landscape.

This research project is delivered within the Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering, which encompasses work in Mechanical, Civil, Automotive, Construction, and Architectural Engineering, as well as project management.
Applicants should hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Materials Science, or relevant disciplines, with demonstrable specialist knowledge in bio-based and GRM design and development, circular design, multi-parameter optimisation, modelling and numerical simulations, as well as LCA and LCC.
