The University of Leeds invites applications for a molecular and cell biologist to study host–pathogen interactions of bunyaviruses. The post is embedded in an international collaboration with virology, immunology, and imaging experts, offering access to state-of-the-art facilities.
You will lead genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 and haploid cell screening, followed by mechanistic dissection using advanced imaging and functional assays, contributing to high-impact publications.
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in host pathogen interactions and genomic screening? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?
We have a vacancy for a molecular and cell biologist to study the host-pathogen interactions of a group of viruses known as the bunyaviruses. This appointment is part of an international collaboration involving scientists working in virology, immunology, structural biology, and cutting-edge image analysis. We seek to understand the formation of viral factories by bunyaviruses within host cells at the molecular and atomic level. One specific goal of the project will be to use genome-wide screening and proteomic approaches to define host restriction factors and molecular components essential for the viral life cycle. The work will involve the implementation of genome-wide CRISPR‑Cas9, and haploid cell screening followed by mechanistic dissection via imaging and functional manipulation.
You should have a PhD and post doctorial experience, in host pathogen‑interactions, genome‑wide screening, molecular biology and cell imaging techniques, as well as a proven publication record in high‑ranking journals. The successful candidate will join the thriving research environment within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, and have the opportunity to use and gain experience of new state‑of-the-art research facilities in cell biology, molecular virology and cell imaging.
