Job description

We are seeking one Research Associate with relevant bioinformatic skills and experience in analysing DNA sequence datasets, such as metabarcoding and population genomic analyses, or sequence assembly and annotation. You will assist NEOF users with study design, data analysis and training, and contribute to the laboratory's research and development activities.

Applicants should have a PhD (or be close to completion / have equivalent postdoctoral level work experience) in molecular ecology or evolutionary genetics, including genetic analyses (for example, diet analysis, studies of biodiversity, eDNA, population structure, mating systems, linkage mapping, genome assembly, comparative genomics or phylogenetics) and possess excellent analytical skills. Programming skills (e.g., Linux, R, PYTHON or PERL) and experience of high-performance computing clusters are also essential.

The NEOF team in Sheffield currently consists of ten staff and is based in a dynamic and productive laboratory that is home to multiple academic research groups studying many aspects of evolutionary genomics, molecular ecology, and animal behaviour. The Genomcis Laboratory currently supports the work of about 70 researchers, including postdocs, technicians, graduate students and visitors.
