Job summary

The University of Sheffield's NEOF facility seeks a bioinformatics specialist to deliver training courses and assist researchers with data analysis. You will help develop training modules and contribute to genome sequencing and population genomics projects within the Genomics Laboratory, collaborating with the NEOF team.

Applicants should hold a PhD (or near completion) in molecular ecology or evolutionary genetics and have strong programming skills (Linux, R, Python or Perl) with HPC

Qualifications

• PhD (or near completion) in molecular ecology or evolutionary genetics.
• Experience with genetic analyses (eDNA, population structure, genome assembly, phylogenetics).
• Programming skills and experience with HPC clusters (Linux, R, Python or Perl).

Responsibilities

• Deliver online and in-person training courses in bioinformatics.
• Assist NEOF users with data analysis.
• Develop new training modules and update existing ones.
• Contribute to research projects including genome sequencing and population genomics.
• Provide cost estimates and feedback on enquiries and applications to use the Facility.
