Senior Engineering Specialist | Medical Devices, BioTech & Robotics

A growing diagnostics team is seeking experienced R&D Engineers to support the design, prototyping, and testing of electro-mechanical systems for a next-gen diagnostic platform. This is a hands-on contract role suited to engineers with a strong background in mechanical systems, fluidics, and product development within regulated industries.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Design, build, and test systems, sub-systems, and lab fixtures to meet evolving project requirements.
2. Lead experiments to optimize performance and troubleshoot technical challenges.
3. Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, electronics, IC design, and process engineering.
5. Support the development and testing of prototype instruments both in-house and with external partners.
6. Apply novel methods and creative thinking to solve complex electro-mechanical problems.

What you’ll bring:

1. A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), with significant post-grad R&D experience.
2. Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, system mechanics, and basic electronics.
3. Skilled in CAD and CAE tools such as SolidWorks and COMSOL.
4. Familiarity with microfluidics, pneumatics, and thermal control systems.
5. Ability to make sound engineering decisions and communicate findings effectively.
6. Experience designing sealed fluidic plastic parts.
7. Exposure to regulated environments (ISO 13485 preferred).
8. Programming experience or scripting knowledge for lab automation.
9. Track record of planning and conducting scientific experiments for process optimization.
